Description
This BETA batch of Amethyst is almost identical to the standard 1st quality version, but takes slightly more work to get it to strike in. Once you’ve done a blowout, the color strikes in beautifully. It is just not as reactive in very small applications such as stringers, dots, etc. It needs a little more heat and working to fully bring out the color.
Gold Amethyst is a gold-bearing, rich transparent purple. Another first for the borosilicate palette, a true deep purple was not seen until we unlocked this gem. As with Gold Ruby, this color looks luscious over white.
Unworked rods may vary from blue to violet, but the purple color will fully strike in as it is flameworked. For very small applications, try gathering the rod and pulling down to desired diameter to develop the color. For hollow work, we recommend solid color blowouts to fully appreciate the clarity and saturation of this Museum-Quality glass.
Recommended Garage/Anneal temp: 1065°F
