Description
Ion is an amazingly bright, fluorescent GemTone™ created in the USA. In normal lighting, Ion is highlighter yellow with a fluorescent green gleam. When viewed under a UV light it has a strong electric green glow. A UV light source in the 365nm wavelength range will give you the brightest fluorescence.
We recommend working Ion in a gentle neutral flame, as it can be sensitive to overheating.
Recommended Garage/Anneal temp: 1100°F
Abnormal Quality Description: Rods that have fallen below first quality and have been deemed Abnormal. This is high-quality, stone-free glass, but the rods are imperfect. They may be short, slightly thick or thin, have a bit of air or other odd imperfections that affect their appearance. Be aware that there may be color variance in our Abnormal glasses. There are no refunds or exchanges on Abnormal glass – all sales are final.

I finally got the chance to try a small bit of this through Profound Glasswork’s sample-sticks, and color me impressed!
There’s a bit more sensitivity to heat with this color VS. Citrine as I’d noted from an artist on Instagram, but so long as you aren’t concentrating sharp, prolonged heat on this color it will hold itself well.
Ion offers some fun optical qualities as well when compared to Molten Aura’s first uranium glass formula. This color offers fluorescent, highlighter yellow-green tones on more dense portions, and a very bright glow. Even when almost-invisible to the naked eye, small stringers of this color will quickly become brilliant-green streaks with the help of a black light.
Take some time to learn its limits with clear, but so far this feels about like working with Citrine with a little more sensitivity.
